Keynote Address: James Pak, Chief Strategy & Product Officer, Chi-X Global

As Chief Strategy & Product Officer for Chi-X Global, a leading provider of market infrastructure technologies and trading venues, James leads the organization’s worldwide business strategy for development of new market centers and product innovations. Prior to Chi-X Global, he was Head of Business Development at Instinet.

Before joining Instinet, James served at Citi from 2004-2008 in various executive capacities including Head of Business Development in US Equities, Head of Derivatives DMA and Head of Market Structure Investments. He launched Citi’s first institutional derivatives DMA desk in 2005 and was instrumental in the company’s acquisition of Lava Trading and Knight Trading Group’s Derivatives Markets business in 2004, as well as Citi’s investment in BATS Trading in 2007. During his tenure at Citi, he served as a board member for the Boston Equities Exchange and BATS, as well as a board observer for LeveL ATS.
Earlier in his career, James was Head of Strategic Development at OptiMark, which acquired Ashton Technology Group in 2002 to form Vie Financial Group, where he was appointed Chief Financial Officer. Prior to this, he worked in investment banking at both Merrill Lynch and Lazard, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, debt capital markets and risk management.
