Romnesh Lamba

Executive Vice President & Head of Market Development, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing

Mr Lamba joined HKEx in February 2010 as EVP and Head of Market Development. He is also a member of the HKEx Senior Management Committee. Mr Lamba’s role is to spearhead HKEx’s strategy and development initiatives under the Market Development Division. The Market Development Division focuses on capturing future China opportunities in both primary and secondary markets, broadening HKEx’s international issuer base, assessing new product and Information Technology development concepts and enhancing the competitiveness of HKEx’s market structure and market systems. Mr. Lamba has also been representing HKEx in regular discussions with the company’s institutional shareholders and the investor community.

Mr Lamba has 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. He worked in the US for nine years before moving to Hong Kong in 1994. Since November 2008, Mr Lamba was a Senior Advisor to JP Morgan’s Asia ex-Japan Investment Banking and Capital Markets business, with strategic and operating responsibilities. He has also worked at Merrill Lynch Asia Pacific for eight years as a Managing Director, where he led the firm’s regional Energy and Power investment banking group and served as the Chief Operating Officer of the firm’s China Origination business. At Merrill Lynch, Mr Lamba was involved in several landmark listings of Mainland enterprises in Hong Kong. Mr Lamba holds Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Economics degrees from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in the US.

Srini Venkataramani

Del Abdullah

Del Abdullah is the Head of Electronic Trading Technology at Daiwa Capital Markets. David Anderson, FIA

David Anderson is a well know market data consultant on both sides of the Atlantic. He has worked in the market data industry since 1984 - including roles with Telerate, Bishopsgate Systems and he spent nearly 13 years with Reuters culminating in various global marketing roles; predominantly working on market data systems (e.g. Triarch and RMDS). Since 2002 David has been operating Atradia (www.atradia.com), a management consultancy practice focused on the market data industry. He has been quoted commenting on the market data industry in major publications such as the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, the International Herald Tribune, Business Week and many others. David speaks on the subject of market data at conferences and has moderated a wide variety of industry panel sessions. He edited the respected annual ‘IMD Reference’ book between 2003 and 2009 and most recently he has been very closely involved with the new SIIA/FISD initiative to create a professional certification program for market and reference data practitioners. David also acts as a Program Director for a variety of other FISD activities.

Mark Bands

Frank Benzimra

Frank Benzimra joined the Standard Chartered equity structuring HK team in April 2010, in charge of the index development. He was previously part of the Societe Generale cross asset solution department, where he played a key role in creating the bank’s proprietary index platform, designing equity and multi-asset systematic strategies. Prior to joining the derivatives group he was an investment strategist, covering successively European and Japanese equity markets. He is a graduate from the London School of Economics.

David Berry

In December 2008, David Berry joined UBS in the Market Data Global Sourcing department He was Head of Procurement and Cost Control Royal Bank of Canada Capital Markets Europe from May to Nov 2008. From 2006 to 2008 he was Global Head of Market Data at Barclays Capital, the Investment Banking arm of Barclays Bank PLC. From 2001 to 2006 he worked for SGCIB, the Corporate & Investment Banking arm of Société Générale Group. He first worked as Head of Supplier Management for Market Data Services and held a number of managerial positions within SGCIB’s Information Technology department. He was appointed Global Head of Market Data Commercial in 2004. From 1993 to 2001, David worked for Morgan Stanley, first in the Fixed Income, Commodities and Foreign Exchange department, where he held Sales and Trading posts in Frankfurt and Paris. Later, he worked in their Market Data and Technology department in London. He is Vice-President of COSSIOM in charge of relations with IPUG, Member of the Executive Committee at IPUG and Co-Chair of the Consumer Constituent Group at FISD. A French national, David was educated in Germany where he holds a “Diplomkaufman.” He also earned a “Diplome des Grandes Ecoles” degree in Paris. Married with three children, David is a keen rugby and ice-hockey player.

John Best

John is a well-known market data industry expert with over 25 years of experience. He is renowned for insightful commentary and a deep understanding of market data systems and vendors.
After graduating, John took a post as junior lecturer and research assistant in the computing dept. of King’s College London. John subsequently moved into the financial markets arena; his experience includes a six-year stint at Salomon Brothers, gaining responsibility for networks and dealing rooms across Europe, and six years with Dow Jones Telerate where he undertook presales support and product management for the Trading Room Systems division. Previously, Ben was Sales and Marketing Director of Tenfore Systems Limited, before its acquisition by Morningstar in December 2008. Managing specialist sales teams located in London, Frankfurt, New York and Chicago, Ben acts as a real-time data specialist for all other global Morningstar offices.

Before joining Morningstar, Ben worked in various sales management roles at Thomson Financial, Bloomberg and Informa Global Markets. Prior to these roles Ben spent 10 years as an officer in the British Army.

Freda Doyle

Freda Doyle is a Vice President and Northern Trust’s Head of IOO Service & Delivery – Hong Kong, since relocating from India in September 2011. She has 17 years’ experience in the Finance industry and joined Northern Trust in the Dublin office in August 2007. Freda was previously Northern Trust’s Head of Data Management in Northern Operating Services Private Limited India. Jayme Fagas

Simon Karaban

Simon Karaban is Director, Research & Design at Standard & Poor's Index Services. He is responsible for the research and design of S&P indices across all of Asia-Pacific. He has worked with several institutional clients in the development of new indexes across asset classes, themes and strategies. Darren Measures

Darren Measures is an Executive Director, Head of Risk for Asia Pacific region of JPMorgan Worldwide Security Services, based out of Hong Kong, a position he recently transitioned into. Prior to that he was Head of Clearance & Collateral Management Client Sales & Management in New York, a position he held since November 2007. From 2004 through 2007, Darren was the global product manager responsible for the launch of the Derivatives Collateral Management product and US Equity TriParty Repo. He had moved to the US from London in 2000 in order to run the Western Hemisphere operation after working on the Investment Bank’s OTC derivatives collateral management program.
Darren joined JPMorgan in 1999 with significant experience in sales, credit and market risk management garnered during tenures at Citibank, SBC and UBS. These experiences developed his knowledge of OTC libor, government, equity and credit derivative products.
He is a working member of the International Swaps and Dealers Association’s Collateral Committee.

Ben Mendoza

MDSL’s Market Data Manager (MDM) solution quickly became the industry de facto standard and today MDSL remains the world leader in this market.
As CEO Ben continued to drive the company’s vision to provide a fully extensible technology expense management architecture. Andrew Miller, FIA

Andrew has over 20 years experience in the market data industry. He joined Arcontech Limited in 1992 from Thomson Financial becoming Managing Director in 2000. He conceived and brought to market Arcontech's CityVision real time market data platform which is now deployed worldwide in mission critical applications from
central banking and national treasury through to investment banking, broking and derivatives trading.
In December 2007 he took Arcontech onto the London Stock Exchange and became CEO of Arcontech Group plc. Andrew is an active participant in industry working groups and a vocal advocate of internetworking communities, crossplatform integration and vendor independent technologies to facilitate choice; reduce costs and increase quality of realtime market data and systems.

Kevin Ng

Kevin Ng is the Director of Global Data Solutions in Asia Pacific and is responsible for developing the enterprise data business and operations strategy in this region. Specifically he oversees the strategic planning and implementation of projects to provide business solutions to clients. Previously Kevin led CUSIP Global Services in Asia Pacific and developed coverage across all major asset classes.

Miguel Ortega

Started my career in Reuters Mexico in 1995 as an installations, field support and open systems manager in charge of technical operations for the country. Transferred to Reuters NY in 1999 where I worked until 2002 as a senior systems engineer in charge of Reuters and Tibco product integration. From 2002 to 2007 I worked for Barclays Capital in NY as a regional Market Data Technical Services manager in charge of all Market Data infrastructure and distribution platforms. In 2007 and until 2008 I joined STAC research, a performance benchmarking company that specializes in low latency benchmarking for capital markets workloads as a Managing Consultant. From 2008 to now I have been working as a Market Data Manager in Deutsche Bank Japan and Regional Head of Market Data Engineering; designing, implementing and supporting Market Data infrastructure as well as Market Data commercial management.

Stuart Plane

Stuart combines an in-depth knowledge of the investment world with a solid understanding of IT systems enabling him to provide the right solution for a given client’s need. Daniel Poon

Daniel is the Vice President of the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx). He joined HKEx in April 2001 as the Head of Derivatives Clearing Operations responsible for managing the two derivatives clearing houses. Since May 2009, Daniel has been appointed the Head of Sales and Marketing Team of the Market Data Department to lead the promotion of HKEx's information services.

Before joining HKEx, Daniel was the Deputy Managing Director of TD Waterhouse, Hong Kong and Deputy Branch Manager of the Toronto Dominion Bank, Hong Kong.

Tim Rice

Global Head of Pricing and Reference Data, Thomson Reuters

Tim Rice is the Global Head of Pricing and Reference Data at Thomson Reuters Tim has a broad background and knowledge of software, hardware, and financial and investment applications. He is an industry veteran with international experience which spans over 23 years. Prior to joining Thomson Reuters, Tim served as the Global Head of Fixed Income at Moneyline Telerate, responsible for setting the strategic direction for the firms fixed income market data and services. Before Moneyline Telerate, Tim held a number of senior sales and marketing positions positions at key firms including, TradeWeb, Bank of England and Interactive Data. Tim received a B.S. in Marketing Management from Cornell University.

Olivier Rose

Head, Projects & International MD, Societe Generale Securities Services

He began his career in 1987 at JP MORGAN in Paris as Head of back-offices then spent a few years as Head of Operations - including Services for Institutional in Europe, US and Middle-East area - within major financial players (NOMURA INTERNATIONAL, CREDIT LYONNAIS AM, ROBECO GROEP) and, finally, he worked for the asset management company of a large Insurance Group. He had a long experience in various subjects regarding Market and Insurance activities and specifically Trading, Operations, Fund Administration, Accounting and IT developments also in 2004 he joined SGSS to participate to the ALFAS Project, taking in charge the Data Market matters in Europe. Olivier is a graduate of the University of California, Riverside after a master in management at La Sorbonne in PARIS.
He is also, since 1988, lecturer in various educational financial and market programs (AFG-HEC, University PARIS X etc..). He had participated, and still participate, in various influential bodies to sponsor securities services and market participants point of view.

Alan Ross

Alan is Head of Market Data for Asia/Pacific for UBS based in Hong Kong. He has 19 years experience in investment banking technology roles and vendor technology roles in both Europe and Asia. Alan was previously Regional Head of Market Data for Global Markets Equities IT in Deutsche Bank, Hong Kong where he was responsible for their low-latency data implementation and API strategy across APAC. Prior to Deutsche Bank, Alan was with Thomson Reuters for 7 years where he ran the Enterprise IMS business in Asia (Enterprise Platform) and had previously worked on many new initiatives such as TRHS hosting in the US and Machine Readable News in the Innovations Group; Also in his time at Reuters, Alan spent two years in Thailand off-shoring 2nd level engineering and support for RMDS.

Sallianne joined Bloomberg in 1989 and has held various positions within Sales, Trading systems and Product Development. Prior to joining the Exchange Business Management team she was Global Head of Bloomberg’s Analytics desk. Sallianne holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in French and Italian from Royal Holloway and Bedford New College (University of London)

Peter Tierney

Principal, Saquish Partners

Peter Tierney is a principal of Saquish Partners and an Advisor at AsisEx markets and specializes in market access and financial technology solutions in the Asia region.

Originally from Ireland Peter has worked in senior financial technology roles in the UK, US and Asia. Peter draws on deep subject matter expertise in both the pre- and post-trade environments, telcomms, trading architecture and data management and has a demonstrated specialty in developing platform services that bring together communities within the financial space. He joined Thomson Financial ESG (now Omgeo) in 1991 as part of the founding team and worked in London, Singapore and the company’s headquarters in Boston. Peter was part of the executive team that defined and executed the merger with the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC) creating Omgeo. Peter then joined the financial extranet provider Radianz (now BT Radianz) where he led global strategic business development. Among other things, Peter and his team was instrumental in developing their low-latency proximity hosting offering in NY, London and Tokyo. Most recently Peter led the successful development of the NYSE Technologies business in Asia. Under his leadership, the business established a strong enterprise software and services revenue flow in the areas of order routing, market data and exchange technology. Peter was instrumental in the acquisition of Japan-based Metabit in 2011 and the definition of NYSE Technologies’ global Liquidity Hub strategy. Peter has established deep and successful relationships around the region with exchanges, brokers and buy-sides.

Peter guest lectures on financial technology as part of Singapore Management University’s (SMU) Masters in IT (Finance) program. He is married with 2 children and is an active member of the Irish community in Singapore.

Eugen Tjong

Eugen Tjong is Head of Enterprise Solutions Real-Time, Asia Pacific for Thomson Reuters. In this role Mr. Tjong has responsibility for all Real-Time solutions within the Asia Pacific region which includes all the Real-Time Feeds, Low Latency Feeds and Hosting solutions.

Before moving to Hong Kong, Mr Tjong was based in London where his roles among others included, Business Manager Enterprise Information, Head of Sales EMEA Low Latency Feeds, Head of Integration and Head of Sales Northern Europe.

Mr. Tjong was both educated in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom and has a degree in business and a PhD in Engineering.

Srini Venkataramani

Chhavi Wadhwani

Chhavi has 15 years of extensive experience in investment banking services and solutions. She is an expert in reference data, data management and data audit processes. Chhavi possesses business, functional and application processing knowledge of reference data (instrument or price, client and counterparty) across all asset classes including cash equity, fixed income, derivatives (listed and OTC), money market and FX. She also has product management experience of reference data solutions such as GoldenSource and Asset Control.

Chhavi got a MBA in Finance from India and started her career as an Equity Analyst in Indian Stock Markets. She has global working exposure in the UK, Singapore and India.

Jim Waldorf

Jim has been with Intel for over 11 years, the last 10 in various marketing and strategic roles focusing on the enterprise data center. Jutta Werner

Jutta Werner is currently Head of Content Acquisition & Rights Management, APAC for Thomson Reuters. Her team manages the commercial & contractual relationships with any third party content suppliers to Thomson Reuters across the region, as well as handling related compliance issues. Her current base is Singapore and her previous roles in the company include Head of Third Party Content for Asia and Global head for the Reuters specialist data business based out of London between 2000 and 2004. In total she has 14 years of experience in the Market Data industry, covering both client facing and supplier facing roles in Sweden, France, the UK and Asia. Jutta holds a Master degree from EDHEC Graduate business school in France and a postgraduate degree in Business Studies from the London School of Economics

Peter Wu

Peter Wu is Executive Director at Morgan Stanley responsible for Market Data & Exchange Connectivity for the Pacific Rim region. He manages regional market data & exchange connectivity team, handling over 60+ exchanges/market places and specializes in low-latency market data for Electronic Program Trading, and co-location architecture.

Previously he was CTO for ModelWare in the Equity Research division at Morgan Stanley. in which he oversaw the development of an analytical platform, including LBO Screener and Analyzer, Profitability Analysis, Capital Structure Analysis, Clustering & Correlation, Nearest Neighbour, Corporate food chain, Cross Asset Analytics. Previous to Morgan Stanley, Peter was Chief Architect, GTECH Corp. Johnnie Yung

Johnnie Yung, Director, is the Head of Index Equity Portfolio Management Group of Asia Ex-Japan region at BlackRock. He is responsible for managing both Equity ETFs and Index Equity institutional mandates in the region. Prior to joining BlackRock in June 2010, Mr. Yung worked as a Portfolio Manager for Dacheng Fund Management Company in China as well as set up its ETF business and platform in Hong Kong. Before that, he was a Senior Director at Royal Bank of Scotland Plc; and was a Vice President for DBS Bank in Hong Kong covering various capital markets initiatives. Previously, Mr. Yung was a portfolio manager for Ontario Teachers' Pension Board in Canada where he was responsible for both active and passive equity portfolio management for over 9 years. He had also been involved in Fixed Income Analytics development for Manulife and managed fixed income portfolios for Crown Life, both in Canada. Mr. Yung earned a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) degree from University of Manitoba and a Master of Mathematics degree from University of Waterloo in Canada.
