Jesse H. Neal Awards
The Editorial & Content Committee is very involved in the Neal Awards, which recognize and reward editorial excellence in business media. Each committee member serves as either a screener or judge for the competition. Additionally, the committee features a subcommittee (Neal Awards subcommittee), which meets during the summer to review the competition and implement changes to streamline processes and reflect the evolving nature of b-to-b media.

ABM's Editorial Code of Ethics
The Editorial & Content Committee is revamping ABM’s Editorial Code of Ethics, taking into account the new digital landscape such as native advertising.
As the web evolves there are challenges ahead identifying the source of content for the reader. In addition, many companies are investing in the creation of useful information for customers. The merging of that information into a communication company's information stream requires added diligence for labeling -- so there is no confusion on the part of the reader about who is talking to them.

The Editorial & Content Committee imagines its role as a faculty, developing useful, utilitarian education that can help members train and educate their staffs.
As such. the committee has produced webinars including a three-part editorial training series in conjunction with the Construction Writers Association (Personal Branding for Journalists; 3 Steps to Developing a Video Content Strategy; and Better, Cheaper, Faster: Automating the Content Workflow). Other webinars include Using Social Media as a Reporting Tool.
Jan. 13, 2014: Neal Awards Screening and Code of Ethics Revamp
During the meeting, the Committee discussed the Neal Awards process and continued to work on the revamp of ABM's Editorial Code of Ethics.
March 14, 2014: Neal Awards Review, Education Initiative
For the bulk of the meeting, the Committee reviewed the 60th Jesse H. Neal Awards process, considering what categories might need a revamp and how to improve the program. The Committee also formed an Education Subcommittee, which will aim to act as an editorial "faculty" for association members, developing training and other tools for editorial staffs.
June 18, 2014: Summer Update
The Committee provided updates on ongoing projects, including planning for the 2015 Neal Awards, revamp of the ABM Editorial Code of Ethics, planning for the editorial track of regional programs and webinars.

The Committee discussed the e-media addendum to the ABM Editorial Code of Ethics.
