CEO, Phare Global Mr. Areia is the founder and CEO of Phare Global Markets. He started the Firm in October 2007 from New York City, and structured the business in Brazil after returning to São Paulo during that same year. Prior to starting Phare, Mr. Areia was a Senior Sales executive at Bloomberg L.P. in New York and São Paulo. Based in New York for 2.5 years Mr. Areia has provided service for many of the leading Fortune 500 companies and financial institutions. He also worked for Salomon Smith Barney (Citigroup Global Markets) in East Lansing, Michigan in 2004 and Raymond James in Santa Barbara, California in 2000 prior to joining Bloomberg in New York. Mr. Areia holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from Michigan State University. Economist, Itau Banco Luiz Gustavo Cherman has been working as economist at Itaú since 2008. Before that he was an economist at the Latin American Economic and Market Analysis team at Citigroup, having started his career at the macroeconomic and strategic planning directory of the Spanish telecommunications company Telefonica. Throughout his career, Luiz has concentrated his analyses on Brazilian economic cycles, external accounts and politics. Fluent in English and Spanish, he did his undergraduate studies in Economics at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro and pursued an MSc in Economics at the University of São Paulo.
