Business Models for Reference Data: Needs, Trends, and Opportunities

New regulatory requirements have expanded financial institutions’ needs for reference data and their technological capabilities have expanded to allow them to make better use of it.  In this context, consumers are seeking more flexible use of reference data and internal justification of the value proposition for their expenditure.   Meanwhile, reference data providers must invest increasing time and resources in creating and maintaining this critical information.  This dynamic has driven the creation of a new FISD working group focused on reference data commercial models.  This session will explore the perspectives from reference data providers, distributors and consumers.  We’ll examine the latest developments, consumers’ changing needs, and the opportunities for “win-win” approaches.
