Cogent Education, Inner Voice & LightUp Announced as Winners of FETC 2016 Goldfish Tank Innovators Competition
Companies recognized as top innovators at the Future of Education Technology Conference

ORLANDO, Fla. (Feb. 16, 2016) – The Education Technology Industry Network (ETIN) of the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal trade association for the software and digital content industry, and LRP Conferences, which provides integrated business-to-business information and media to qualified professionals in the public, academic and private sectors focusing on technology, announce Cogent Education: Interactive Cases, Inner Voice and LightUp as the winners of the Goldfish Tank Innovators Competition during the 2016 Future of Education Technology Conference (FETC).

“This competition asks the educators in the audience to vote for the product that they would most likely use in the classroom. This year’s three-way tie vote illustrates how difficult it can be choose among the engaging and relevant digital tools that entrepreneurs are bringing to the ed tech market,” said Karen Billings, vice president and managing director for ETIN. “Cogent Education, Inner Voice and LightUp have the potential to give students new, rich learning experiences.”

“The Goldfish Tank competition is one of the highlights of the Incubator Pavilion at FETC,” said Rebecca McKenna, vice president Global Events and publisher at LRP Publications. “The Incubator Pavilion, co-sponsored by ETIN-SIIA, FETC and the National Science Foundation, provides attendees the opportunity to explore emerging pre-K-12 technologies while giving innovators the opportunity to hear real-time, critical feedback from tech decision makers and future buyers.”

ETIN member Cogent Education also took the prize at the 2015 competition. "We were once again thrilled with the response from science teachers at FETC. They love our new blended concept for chemistry and our new Interactive Case Studies for biology,” said Tyler Gerhart Wood, president & CMO of Cogent. “The show was one of the best for us, as there was a true focus on STEM.”
