SIIA Highlights the Importance of Data Flows upon Release of the ITC Report

Washington D.C. (May 19, 2016) – The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal association representing the software and digital content industries, today commented on the importance of the International Trade Commission’s (ITC) May 18th report on the effect of TPP for the U.S. economy.

SIIA’s Senior Vice President for Public Policy, Mark MacCarthy, issued the following statement

“The cross-border data flow provisions in the TPP are essential for U.S. businesses and important for maintaining our economic leadership.  In its report, the ITC recognizes the importance attached to these flows by the industries SIIA represents.

“The ITC report supports the argument that TPP can help promote a 21st century economy that benefits American workers and companies.  We commend the Commission for the hard work and intellectual rigor that went into producing this exhaustive document.”
