SIIA and Global Industry Call on Nations to Join the Information Technology Agreement
Washington, D.C. (September 15, 2017) – The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal association for the software and digital content industries, joined industry associations today from around the world in urging members of the World Trade Organization (WTO) to join the Information Technology Agreement (ITA) and its expansion.
SIIA Vice President for Public Policy, Mark MacCarthy, issued the following statement:
“SIIA urges members of the WTO to join the ITA and its expansion. As we have previously shown, the U.S. software industry is an engine for economic growth and employment in the United States. Expanding overseas markets for software and other products and services associated with the Internet is an excellent way increase economic growth globally.
“SIIA hopes that more WTO members will join the ITA and its expansion by the Buenos Aires WTO Ministerial in December of this year to contribute to a positive outcome at the Ministerial.”
