Best Semantic Technology Platform, Tools and Applications

Recognizes the semantic technology platform with the best tooling and enterprise features. The winning platform will provide the most comprehensive set of tools and applications to integrate the Semantic Web with internal needs to create, manage, and query semantic data.

SlugBot - Acquire Media

Acquire Media’s SlugBot is helping news organizations bridge the divide between old methodologies and modern technologies. For decades, news organizations have relied on the slug line (the keywords of a story strung together) to help identify and move news stories for print and broadcast. However, slug lines are not in general standardized, and certainly not optimized for search, machine-based learning, or information retrieval in general. Today's organizations need computer-based methods to quickly identify not only the contents but also the connections of news stories vis-a-vis developing and historical events. This is the driving force behind SlugBot. SlugBot helps news organizations create a standard system, tied to in-house metadata schemas and taxonomies, that provides the crucial common thread. Useful for both planned events (sports, elections, press conferences) and breaking news. As information begins to surface, collecting facts and supporting materials for generating a story line is critical, but accuracy and speed are paramount. This is where SlugBot’s groundbreaking technology is most valuable. It creates a point of origin for any developing story arc. As new stories are beginning to take shape, an official (and meaningful!) slug line is created and registered in real-time, automatically, using natural language processing techniques. As multiple stories further develop slugs connect all relevant information, enabling a editorial or content management system to both create and curate finished media. Additionally, SlugBot connects to back-end taxonomy and entity-extraction systems to expand slug line terms and use them in tag creation. These tags are then cycled back in to SlugBot to allow a fully meshed system of story interrelations. SlugBot was built for news organizations but is applicable in other industries and job functions.

  • CAAT 3.16 Machine Learning Software - Content Analyst Company, LLC

Content Analyst Company's patented CAAT software is a machine learning based, semantic text analytics suite that facilitates the search, organization, matching, analysis and visualization of large amounts of unstructured text content. CAAT is used by web content publishers, talent management products and other software products where large amounts of unstructured text content need to be searched, organized and analyzed. Unlike traditional search technologies, CAAT is not dependent on Boolean logic, pre-defined dictionaries, taxonomies or keyword libraries. Rather, it uses machine learning technology to create a conceptual space of the entire corpus of text content, allowing it to be searched, organized and analyzed based on concepts---not keywords. Users can use the contents of an entire article, resume, job description or research paper to match results based on conceptual similarity.

Since CAAT is not keyword dependent, it performs these functions in any language.

CAAT has been integrated into dozens of web platforms and software products spanning information services, talent management, patent research, contract management, eDiscovery, social media analysis, and US Intelligence installations.

    Luxid 7 - TEMIS Inc.

Semantics have become a strategic enabler for Publishers. At the forefront of this trend, TEMIS' flagship Luxid Platform automates the extraction of information (entities, relationships, categories, topics) from documents, enabling the enrichment of metadata.

Luxid7 has been chosen by leading publishers to boost editorial productivity, create innovative products and formats, and deliver a compelling experience based on improved navigation, content recommendations, Linked Data, and analytics.

With a significantly redesigned architecture, the recently announced Luxid7 now includes Webstudio, a collaborative web application that enables users to create, edit and maintain their ontology while governing how ontological objects are recognized by the Luxid semantic enrichment pipeline. It also enables users to:

--> Preview in real time semantic enrichment results on their own corpus and correct gaps from the same interface.

--> Identify relevant objects mentioned in the corpus to improve their ontology.

This industry-first integrated workflow simplifies key tasks and makes end-users more autonomous in maintaining an up-to-date ontology and an aligned semantic enrichment pipeline. Thanks to these evolutions, Publishers can add semantic intelligence to their products at a lower total cost of ownership and in a fraction of the time required with a disconnected workflow.
