For many B2B publishers, live events are a growing revenue source, as even in the digital age, people like to meet and share ideas face to face. Earlier this year, the Specialist Media Insights Research showed that live events already account for 20% of B2B revenues. And publishers have a real advantage in creating quality content. But there are challenges as planning, marketing and commercializing live events requires different skills to traditional content publishing.
If you are contemplating expanding your range of live events, you’re sure to pick up some new ideas and practical tips from the expert speakers at the next SIIA UK Issue Brief on Wednesday 4 September in London.
Julian Turner, CEO of Electric Word and Russell Lawson, MD of Optimus Education, will share the experiences from their series of 40 annual paid-for conferences for education professionals. They have recently had to reposition some of their events to suit a changing market, and Russell will explain how they achieved this and what they have learnt along the way, that could be applied to other industry sectors.
Nick Shanagher, MD of Newtrade Publishing, and Graham Lock, MD of Cogent Events, will tell the story of their re-launch of the Independent Retail Show, in partnership with a trade association. The NFRN was keen to access Newtrade’s content expertise, but they faced a series of cultural issues along the journey, and Newtrade learnt just how different it is to create content for live events and sell sponsorship and exhibiting packages. As B2B publishers increasingly have to work alongside trade associations, Newtrade’s experiences should prove extremely useful.
In this small group event, attendees will have plenty of opportunities to question speakers closely and share their own experiences – plus network with like-minded publishers.
Our recent Issue Briefs – on subscriptions marketing and mobile publishing – have been highly popular, with attendees walking away with some highly useful insights.
