The educational technology industry is often challenged to demonstrate its commitment to more meaningful diversity in its ranks—in entry, mid-management, and executive positions. The Education Technology Industry Network (ETIN) of the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) wants to be a force in helping the industry achieve this diversity, particularly in gender, age, and race and ethnicity.
ETIN’s Diversity and Inclusion working group believes that an important early step is securing data on industry diversity metrics. This step will help us set benchmarks and monitor industry progress over time. It will help individual companies monitor their own progress. Additionally, the survey will help us develop a positive story to tell about the ed tech industry’s diversity and inclusion efforts.
Your responses will be aggregated with all others for reporting purposes; your specific responses will be kept completely confidential. But your data will be an important contribution toward the progress we seek.
ETIN member and nonmember companies are invited to complete the survey. The data is being collected for U.S.-based employees only. Here are three things you can do to help:
1. Forward this message to your HR staff or the person in your company who should be tasked with completing the survey.
2. Read and share Five Strategies to Promote Diversity in Tech.
3. Have a conversation with colleagues about your company’s diversity/inclusion practices..
Thank you for your help in making our industry more responsive to customers by supporting diversity and inclusion. If you have questions about ETIN’s Diversity Initiative, please contact me at email@example.com.
