To say 2016 was a crazy year is an understatement. But with all the political uncertainty, iconic losses, and unprecedented hacks there was a whole year of technological advancements that we, as an industry, should celebrate. We have seen significant advances in virtual and augmented reality, machine learning and IoT penetrating the enterprise, increased private equity investments and one of the biggest deals in tech history with Dell’s purchase of EMC for $67 billion, just to name a few.
SIIA’s Software and Services Division also saw a number of significant milestones this year starting with our acquisition of the TechCouncil of Southern California, creating SSD’s first official regional chapter serving technology, media and ecommerce companies in the region. After three inaugural events, including a charity luncheon supporting Toys-for-Tots, the membership and participation is thriving. SSD also awarded its first Company CODiE awards honoring outstanding teams and individuals for their accomplishments, leadership and commitment to our industry. 2016 also saw the launch of SIIA TechChats, featured videos with expert advice from our member executives on how to launch, build and grow a successful software company. Add in over 15 in-person events and too many virtual activities to count and 2016 was full of unapparelled collaboration, networking and peer learning.
On behalf of SIIA, the Software & Services Division and the Technology Council of Southern California, thank you for your affiliation. Let us raise a toast to you, our valued members! Here’s to an exciting and prosperous 2017!
From our team to yours Happy New Year!
