Bob Carlson
VP, IBM Webfountain

A seasoned VP at IBM, Bob Carlson is responsible for the technical and business strategy for a project called "WebFountain" at the company's Almaden Research Center in San Jose. Based on three years research in various computer science disciplines at IBM, WebFountain is a combination of advanced technology, vast data sources and key applications which offers companies the ability to quickly discover business insight and then transform their processes, strategies and decision-making based on that insight. Potential applications for WebFountain include marketing and strategic planning, research and discovery, and supporting data-intensive operations. Carlson's team of researchers and consultants is currently working with beta customers to extend the platform's capabilities to new applications in multiple industries.


Dawn Conway Dawn Conway
Vice President, Content & Business Development, LexisNexis

Dawn Conway is a 14-year, LexisNexis veteran with an extensive background in online content licensing, marketing, and business development. Currently, she is Vice President of Content and Business Development for LexisNexis, a global leader in comprehensive and authoritative legal, news and business information. In this role, she is responsible for securing strategic content, and developing and maintaining license relationships. Prior to the current position, Conway held key management positions within LexisNexis sales and marketing departments. She holds a B.A. in History from Regis College and a J.D. from California Western School of Law and is a member of the District of Columbia Bar. Conway is a member of the SIIA Content Board.

Jeffrey S. Cutler is a senior executive with over 18 years experience in online, interactive information services. Jeff has been serving as Interim Vice President of the SIIA's Content Division since July, 2003 where he is responsible for defining the issues facing the information publishing industry and for establishing the programs and forums to allow the senior executives of the industry to explore them. Prior to SIIA, Jeff served as President and CEO for Inlumen, Inc. (formerly NewsAlert) before overseeing the sale of Inlumen to Pinnacor (formerly Screaming Media) in November, 2003. In addition, Jeff was GM & COO of Office.com, a Service from Winstar and held previous management positions with Thomson Financial and CompuServe.

Jeffrey Davis was named Executive Vice President and General Manager of the newly formed MarketWatch Information Services group in January 2004. Marketwatch Information Services combines MarketWatch's existing licensing business with the recently acquired Pinnacor business. Jeff will be leading the integration of the two companies, as well as having responsibility for business strategy, product management, client engineering and implementation, marketing, sales, and customer service delivery. Jeff has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Previously he had been President and COO of Thinking Investments, Inc., a company that developed forward-looking portfolio analytics for institutional, high net worth, and private client financial services firms.

Ken Doctor leads the Knight Ridder Digital's Content Services business initiative. Content Services focuses broadly on leveraging the value of content, through business-to-business and business-to-consumer channels. In his work, Doctor focuses on the broad electronic syndication business of Knight Ridder, directing the licensing of current and archival content to corporate, business, legal and academic markets, wireline and wireless, through networks of syndicators and agents. Richard Geiger Richard Geiger
Research Director, San Francisco Chronicle

Richard Geiger has led the The San Francisco Chronicle's research and archiving operations since 1984. His first assignment at the paper was to automated their manual clipping operation and to bring in an online system. Within days, The Chronicle began transmitting data to information aggregators. Richard is the key contact and negotiator for this information provider and he brings a unique perspective on this key business relationship. He has presented at the Internet Librarian, Online, and SLA conferences.
