The SIIA CODiE Awards are judged in three rounds.
First Round Review
November 2007 - February 2008
First round Codie Awards Judges are representatives from the software and information industry trade press, mainstream technology writers, analysts, consultants and subject-matter experts. Prospective first round judges submit an application online at our CODiE Awards website, which is reviewed for relevant experience. The rankings of nominees by these judges determine the 2008 CODiE Awards Finalists.
Procedure
Nominees must forward a copy of the product, any necessary access codes or other appropriate information to assigned judges by December 14, 2007.
Beta versions of software will not be accepted.
Gold masters are accepted, but not recommended.
Judges are not required to sign Non-Disclosure Agreements.
Any of the following may be submitted to judges:
- Full copy of nominated product (preferred for appropriate products)
- Website URL and login information for online-only products
- Self-running CD Demo
- Self-running online demo access
A useful resource for preparing demos is: How to Create Online Demos that Technical Prospects Love - A Case Study from MarketingSherpa, Inc.
Second Round Voting:
SIIA Members Vote for the 2008 CODiE Awards Recipients
March 10, 2008 - April 30, 2008
Online voting opens in March
Beginning on March 10, 2008, SIIA voting members will have 51 days to review CODiE Awards finalists in each category and select their choices online. Member companies are allowed one vote per company in each CODiE Awards category.
Procedure
Unlike the first round, the second round of the CODiE Awards is not an intensive product review, because SIIA Members are invited to vote in all of the categories. It is recommended that you provide an online demo or product access to allow SIIA members to become familiar with your product.
Campaigning for Second Round Votes
In order to prevent SIIA Members from being inundated with campaign materials, finalist promotion is limited to the SIIA-sponsored Finalist Review Program (FRP) website and special Upgrade magazine issue. Further details about the program directory will be provided when finalists are announced in February 2008.
Any campaigning for votes outside of the SIIA-sponsored Finalist Review Program will result in disqualification and your product will be pulled from judging.
More information about the voting process will be available in the "Vote" section of this website after finalists are announced.
Third Round Voting:
SIIA Members On-Site Vote for the 2008 CODiE Awards Recipients
May 19, 2008
Procedure
Each member company attending any of the two SIIA spring conferences [Ed Tech industry Summit and NetGain] will receive one additional ballot to be completed onsite after reviewing the CODiEs' Finalist Showcase. The Showcase will be held on the evening of Monday, May 19 at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. The new voting process for the Finalists will expand the voting pool and enable the attendees at the three conferences to review the products and services voted as Finalists in person.
