Judging
Apply to be a 2013 Judge
Information & Advice for First Round Judges
Qualifications & Responsibilities:
- Before signing up to be a judge, please make sure you understand the process and what your responsibilities will be. Please take a moment to read our Terms & Conditions of Judge Participation before completing your application.
- Please take a moment to review the timetable for demos and evaluations to make sure you will have time to participate during that period.
Product Assignments:
- Please review your product assignments in the judge dashboard as soon as you receive them; let Wendy Tanner know of any conflicts of interest.
Product Access:
- When a nominee provides you with online product access, please take the time to review it. Nominees can see your activity!
Product Demos:
- As a judge, the choice between participating in a live product demonstration with each nominee or requesting a recorded one is made at YOUR discretion. When a nominee reaches out to you, please inform him/her of your preference.
- Two judges are assigned to review each product. A live product demo may be conducted with both judges at the same time, but you are not required to schedule one together.
Other Judges:
- If you wish, you may communicate with the other judge evaluating an assigned product; however, we prefer each judge evalute each product individually. All judge scores will be averaged to determine finalists.
Product Evaluations:
- Please remember that you are comparing each product to the criteria provided, and not against each other.
- We recommend submitting your scores immediately after reviewing each individual product rather than waiting until the end of the review period.
- You may return to the judge dashboard to revise your scores at any point up to the evalution deadline.
Interacting with Nominees:
- Do not ask nominees about product pricing. Price is not one of the elements a product is scored on.
- Please be responsive to nominees. For whatever reason, if you are not able to continue judging, please notify Wendy Tanner as well as each nominee assigned to you.
- Plan ahead. Keep deadlines in mind so you are not scheduling demos or submitting scores at the last minute.
