About the Content Division

The Content Division of the Software & Information Industry (SIIA) provides a forum for companies that are in the business of publishing and distributing online content, or offer technologies and services that facilitate the distribution of information products. With the leadership of the Content Board, the division works to develop effective approaches to emerging issues and to produce deliverables of special interest to members of the division.

Whether you are an established online information provider or a pure-play Internet business, SIIA can help you identify and evaluate traditional and evolving business models and market opportunities, work to protect and enhance the value of your online information and network with the people you need to meet.

WORKING AGENDA

The SIIA Content Division is comprised of more than 100 large and small companies that publish and distribute information, or provide technologies and services that enable the marketing and delivery of information products and services. If you are a content provider, the Division offers strategic views on trends in the information industry, as well as tactical elements of success. If your company is selling to or working with the information market or with publishers, then the Content Division has a lot to offer you.

INDUSTRY TRENDS & VISIONS

The Content Division enables you to enlarge your understanding and broaden your perspective on a wide range of issues facing your information business. The Content Division brings members together to develop effective approaches in areas such as web business models, content management, and portal distribution. Whether your company is evaluating a merger and acquisition or looking at entering a vertical market, the Content Division can help you access the people and resources to help you make a better-informed decision.

RIGHTS MANAGEMENT

Rights Management is a primary concern for software and content companies alike. New technologies, awareness of the issues and the development of corporate practices can help companies properly manage their assets. To accommodate this, the SIIA Rights Management Working Group has developed an information education, protection and enforcement program that will work like the SIIA Anti-Piracy program in order to improve copyright compliance and enhance the value of our members' copyrighted and licensed information.

ADVOCATE FOR INDUSTRY

SIIA's Government Affairs staff works closely with Content Division members to address key public policy issues affecting content providers and the information industry at large. Members are encouraged to participate in the Public Policy Committees responsible for developing the Association's positions, and directing its advocacy on these key issues. Particularly, the Intellectual Property, E-Commerce, Privacy and Government Information Policy Committees are excellent channels for content companies, both large and small, to have a voice, and to make a difference.
