    EVENTS:

    ¤ Executive Facetime: Howard Ratner, EVP/CTO of Nature Publishing Group
    This new webinar series features one-on-one interviews with industry leaders. The series continues with an interview of Howard Ratner EVP/CTO of Nature Publishing Group, by Hal Espo, President of Contextual Connections, LLC. The web audience will be invited to submit questions during the program, which takes place on March 28, 12:00PM – 1:30PM EST. To register, click here.

    ¤ SIIA Content Forum 2007 and Codie Awards Gala planning is nearly complete. Be sure to check out the program and register by March 19 to save $600!

    ¤ SIIA and License Logic have begun teaching Certified Content Rights Manager courses, in conjunction with the SLA. Courses are aimed at corporate information managers and there is a fee. Details on the course and the exam can be found at the LicenseLogic site. Upcoming course dates include:

  • Chicago, IL – Feb. 26, 2007
  • Scottsdale, AZ – March 25, 2007 in conjunction with Buying and Selling eContent.
  • San Francisco, CA – April 16, 2007 in conjunction with SIIA’s Content Forum.
  • ¤ The 6th Annual Information Industry Summit was held in New York last month. Over 400 senior executives came to Cipriani to gain perspectives on the industry through a series of panels, debates, keynotes, and interviews.     ¤ The inaugural SIIA Previews presented innovative content creators, content deliverers and content protectors. These five minute pitches can be seen on Scribe Media's SIIA site along with the opening panel which was moderated by Joel Dreyfuss of Red Herring. Fred Wilson, Managing Partner at Flatiron Partners & Union Square Ventures, gave a very substantive and entertaining keynote. He has posted video at his Union Square Ventures blog.

    ¤ Content Board Nominations Are Open!
    If you would like to become more involved in SIIA Content Divisions activities, run for the Division Board of Directors. Meetings are held four times a year, with some conference calls. All that’s required is that your firm is a member in good standing and that you submit a nomination statement by February 22, 2007.  Elections will commence on February 26.     ¤ 2007 Global Information Industry Summit Steering Committee
    The Steering Committee had its first meeting on Thursday February 15th in preparation for this September Conference to be held in Berlin.
