About the Accessibility Boot Camp

This SIIA pre-conference boot camp is intended for K-12 and Higher Education ed tech companies. Individuals registering for EBF can attend at no charge selecting the event on the EBF registration form. Non-EBF attendees can attend for a small fee – SIIA members $100, non-members $300.

The goal of the training program is to gather ed tech companies – startups, small- and medium-sized companies – for detailed legal and policy presentations to help them understand ed tech accessibility regulatory requirements and industry best practices that meet legal requirements and community expectations.

Presenters and panelists come from schools or districts, the Department of Education, Department of Justice, US Access Board and disability-focused advocacy and policy organizations.

Due to space limitations, attendance is limited to 2 individuals per ed tech company

Who Should Attend?

Earlier this year, federal regulations were updated to require specific accessibility standards of technology adopted by federal agencies. Many states and educational agencies follow these regulations and will soon be requiring that new product adoptions follow these standards. Every ed tech company and product will be affected.

This boot camp will provide a better understanding of federal accessibility laws and technical standards along with best practices to meet the legal requirements and community expectations. Individuals responsible for product accessibility or for compliance with state and federal regulation are invited to attend. These conversations will be particularly valuable to startups and small-sized companies who do not have resources to hire outside technical expertise or internal accessibility personnel.
