Can Games and Simulations Reach
AND Teach the 21st Century Student?
January 2007
The SIIA EduGames and Simulations Working Group recently hosted a panel discussion at FETC in Orlando and will host another in March at CoSN. The goals of the session are to provide a lively discussion with publishers and educators regarding the effectiveness of games and simulations, means of incorporating these tools into educational goals, and why they are so appealing.
Why are computer games and simulations so appealing to students? What does research say about their effectiveness? How do educators use games to meet their educational goals? What are the development and implementation issues? And what’s on the horizon for these new interactive learning applications of education technology?
