INNOVATION INCUBATOR

The Innovation Incubator program promotes innovative developers of education technology products or services.

Developers in non-profit organizations or young companies will be featured in the Innovation Showcase & Welcome Reception on Sunday night, May 18 and again at the Business Profiles Session on Tuesday afternoon, May 20.

For the Ed Tech Industry Summit, many of the applicants came from non-profit institutions or from young companies. Applications were reviewed by SIIA's Innovation Working Group and the Summit's Steering Committee, then selected to participate in the Ed Tech Industry Summit.

The Innovation program is partially funded by the Summit's Innovation Incubator Sponsors: Academic Business Advisors, Flatworld/Education 2000, Intel, Spectrum K12, and VIP Tone.

  • BlueNose Edutainment

    BlueNose Edutainment is an online education / entertainment product utilizing music, film, & sports as a way of motivating students to read & write. Strategic partners include the Music Labels, Hollywood Studios, & Professional Sports Leagues.

  • Education Clip Library

    An online library of curriculum-focused video clips specifically developed for licensing by educational publishers. ITN Source, gateway to the world's largest and most diverse catalogue of moving image libraries and Espresso Education, the pioneers in digital video clip classroom usage, partnered to create this constantly growing online database of contextualized video clips tailored to K-12 curriculum standards.

  • EduTone Xchange
    Robert Iskander, CEO, VIP Tone Inc.

    A web-based appliance that manages school data across multiple systems, providing single sign-on access to services securely to the end user. A unique encrypted identity is created for each user providing lifelong services through the EduTone Learning Community.

  • eSpindle Vocabulary & Spelling Tutor

    An online vocabulary and spelling tutoring program focused on committing words to long-term memory. Individualized, targeted sessions create the verbal foundation for confident readers and writers. The patent-pending tutoring program delivers customized learning based on a proprietary database of 100,000 words, and is designed to interlink with existing programs.

  • Go-Joe Reader Program

    Go-Joe Reader is an interactive web-based reading activity for grades K-6. The Program allows every student in a school district to contribute "food" (the number of minutes they read which are converted into miles) to propel Go-Joe, an animated elephant, on a virtual journey around the world. Each student in the district contributes to the districts' overall reading goal by "reading to feed Go-Joe." Students can compare their personal data, their grade and their school with all others in their district.

  • Haiku LMS
    Allen Angell, President, HAIKU Learning Systems, Inc.

    Haiku LMS is an online web 2.0 application allowing instructors to deliver a full range of curriculum and manage class work. Educators are able to organize, manage and deliver course content, assignments, and assessments, securely conduct discussions, exchange messages, collect homework, grade assignments and take attendance.

  • MaestroReading.com

    MaestroReading is an online edutainment destination merging fun activities and literacy development with social interaction and networking. Children interact with one another, and earn points to develop their virtual characters (avatars) by participating in literacy activities like games and interactive storybooks. The content has received recognition and awards for educational excellence - we help children learn to love reading

  • Somatic Digital Touchbook

    Somatic Digital has developed Touch User Interface (TUI) technology. This technology creates a "touch screen" out of the printed page by connecting paper directly to digital content that resides on optical media, Internet, or hard-drives. These services enable publishers to leverage their print assets to drive more users to their interactive assets, improving the user experience. Content owners monetize this improved connection to their readers.
