With the evolution of digital information dissemination, government has seen dramatic changes in resource management. Developing policies and practices to keep pace has been especially challenging as technological advances and user expectations have put additional pressures on agencies to create new models and methods of dissemination. This Information Policy Summit will explore pending agency initiatives and the most recent policy debates affecting digital delivery of information by government.

Experts from federal agencies, the academic and library communities, and the private sector will take a close look at a range of factors that are shaping government information objectives and initiatives. A spirited debate among stakeholders will help to identify good existing policies, needs for new policies, and how the public and private sectors can cooperate (work together) to meet the information needs of the public.

Key topics discussed at this event will include:

  1. Case studies of ongoing efforts among key federal agencies to maximize availability of digital government resources.
  2. Balanced, expert analysis on formulating policies and practices to best anticipate and meet future needs.
  3. Government plans to provide educational resource materials.
  4. Effects of September 11th on restricting availability of information.
