The competition is open to nonprofit and for-profit and associations and industry service partners submitting on behalf of association clients, regardless of whether they are members of Association Media & Publishing to enter. The EXCEL Awards recognize the integration of various print, digital and/or live platforms in association media, publishing, marketing and communications. Many categories allow, or even require, examples from more than one format.
IMPORTANT: All entries must include supporting images and/or screenshots for use in presentation materials and awards literature. Images may include press-ready PDFs (high and low resolution). Please read each category description carefully, as some entries require file uploads, printed materials mailed, and/or both.
Early Bird – November 18 – January 17, 2020
Regular Deadline: January 18 – February 14, 2020
Extended Deadline: February 15 – March 2, 2020
Some categories require entries in one of five classes of circulation size:
- 10,000 or fewer
- 10,001 to 20,000
- 20,001 to 50,000
- 50,001 to 100,000
- More than 100,000
All entries (print and digital) must have been published from January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2019. All links must be live and available through standard Web browsers at the time of judging. Entries for registration-restricted websites must include login/password information for the judges. Links that are not working during the judging period will not be judged. If you are a winner, the links must be active until November 2020. All entries must be in English.
There is no limit on how many entries can be submitted in any category, except only one pro-bono entry per organization.
Rights and Permissions
All winners will be posted on the AM&P EXCEL Awards website. For any winning entry to be posted we first need you to warrant that you own the rights in the content and images we will post on the site and for you to grant Connectiv/AM&P the authority to post the content and images. Therefore, you must check the rights and permissions agreement box on your entry form.
Some categories require printed materials to be mailed to AM&P. After you’ve completed the online portion of your entry, print a copy of the entry form for each item you will be sending us by mail. For example, if a category requires two copies of three consecutive issues of a magazine, print 6 entry forms, one for each item. Attach one ticket to each item and then attach the two sets together with an elastic band. All mail-in entries must be mailed to:

Entries submitted incorrectly may not be accepted for the competition. Please read the instructions carefully for each category to avoid errors.
Deadlines & Notification
Early Bird entries will be accepted through January 17, 2020. Regular entries will be accepted through February 14, 2020, and AM&P staff will not correct errors or alert you to problems with an entry submitted after this deadline. The final deadline for entries is March 2, 2020.
All entries must be paid online at siia.net/excels by 11:59 p.m. PST, March 2, 2020. All payments must be paid online via credit card (American Express, MasterCard or Visa). Checks are not accepted as payment.
All winners will be notified of their status. Award winner rankings (Gold, Silver, Bronze) and the winner of the EXTRA! Award will be announced at the EXCEL Awards Gala on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, in Washington.
