Technology Showcase:  Publishing Platforms
June 20th from 1-6PM

Learn how to create better, faster and cheaper information products with Publishing Platforms

This is a half day event on Thursday, June 20th from 12:30-6PM in New York, NY (& Simulcast).

Do you know how your publishing technology stacks up against current best practices for publishing and distributing your content?  Do you understand what a publishing platform is, what it can do for your business, and why you should invest in them?  Is your publishing technology built in silos, each with independent content and technology, that makes it difficult to quickly and cost effectively create new content products?

Media companies, publishers and information services providers are quickly migrating to publishing platforms.  Compared to “traditional” methods of creating, publishing and distributing content—publishing via a modular “platform” has many benefits including: scalability, faster time-to-market, improved efficiency, flexibility, reusability, and consistent and better user experience,  including the ability to handle web, mobile, etc. providing the same user experience across diverse mediums.

Before you invest in creating or migrating to a Publishing Platform, there are 5 key aspects you need to understand to be successful.

  • You need to think about modular architecture and the best way to achieve it
  • You need to think about leveraging semantic technology
  • You need to think about where you are going to build and host your technology
  • You need to understand how to measure
  • You will need to plan and leverage talent that is different than in a ‘traditional” siloed publishing organization.

If you are responsible for product strategy or implementation for your information company, do not miss the SIIA’s upcoming Technology Showcase focused on Publishing Platforms on June 20th from 1-6PM.  During this half day, you will learn and understand how to create a publishing platform for your business that will help you create better, faster and cheaper products.
