As indices and indexing play an increasingly important role in securities markets, vendors and their clients are focusing more attention on the sourcing and usage of index information. This FISD panel session will examine the recent developments in the creation and distribution of index information from the perspectives of index sponsors, data vendors, and financial institutions. We will discuss the trends that lead to a proliferation of new indices, current hot issues related to indexing, and the licensing challenges faced by sponsors, distributors, and clients.
