A full day course designed to prepare intermediate and advanced market data managers for the FISD Financial Information Associate (FIA) Exam. The coursework will follow the current FIA Syllabus (version 2.0 of September 2009) and engage participants in the training class through the core set of information to refresh, reaffirm and solidify the knowledge base needed to successfully prepare for the certification exam.
The class will cover the four key topical categories of:
- The Markets: The role of financial markets, Participants, Regulators, Business function & Responsibilities, Asset classes, and Market Data Job Functions
- The Data: Sources, Types, Standards, Delivery, Vendors, Use, Commercial Models
- Technology: Basics, Datafeeds, Distribution, Desktop, Applications, Development & Support Enterprise Data Management (EDM), Technology Providers
- Industry Issues and Trends: Regulation and Market Structure, Automation, EDM, Issues
Participants in the course will walk through each topical area and will be provided with both course materials detailing the core materials as well as self-study guidelines for furthering the knowledge base and comfort level to successfully pass the FIA Certification exam.
The course instructor is a seasoned market data executive with over 24 years experience managing market data in buy side and sell side functions and as a vendor. The course will provide the participant with historical perspectives, colorful examples and a practitioner's point of view on the market data landscape to enhance the participants learning experience over the course of the day.
Alternative courses may be tailored to meet the interests of beginner/intermediate participants as needed.
