Panel: The modern market data desktop
HFT, Low Latency and Algorithmic trading have grabbed the headlines in recent years but what about the humans out there? Actual people are still sitting in front of market data workstations. This panel will explore the modern day workstation.
- How has Excel fared 27 years since it first appeared on a market data workstation - some argue that Excel is in essence a workstation in its own right.
- Green screens are a distant memory and the Facebook generation is taking hold. Which features and functions matter most looking forward to 2013? What technology and design advances have worked well?
- On a more fundamental note, is this meaningful, or should the last person to leave the dealing room switch out the lights? Given the potential regulatory clampdown on HFT etc. could there be new life left in the old dog that is the human trader. If there is maybe that old dog is hungry!
Panelists:
Rupert Brown, UBS, Executive Director, IB - Chief Technology Office
Esteban Souto, Thomson Reuters, Global Head of Design and User Experience
6:00 - 8:00PM Christmas Party: Ring in the holiday season with your colleages customers and competitors!
