The Queensland State Government had developed a policy towards the management of intellectual property. From this came the deep understanding of the realities of dealing with a large workforce that is creating a tremendous number of intellectual property assets as part of normal work processes. The key challenges became: proper intellectual property assessment, secure work flow handling, and secure access by both internal and external public users.

    2. The solution that was chosen and why that particular solution was selected.
Create an on-line intellectual property assessment and management solution, through the deployment of Faulkner Technologies’ ElasticApps Software as a Service platform.

    3. Results of the implementation. How did the vendor meet the agency's needs?
The creation of on-line system for the registration of intellectual property assets, and for the management of licensing and confidentiality agreements associated with the IP assets created. The system incorporates processes and work flows to ensure that intellectual property assets are developed to their full potential. The system is centrally managed as a service, allowing for ease of maintenance and upgrades so that the system requires little to no IT resources at a departmental level.
