What is a BrainSlam?
Facing a business challenge? Let the hundreds of attendees at SIPA 2013 help!
The BrainSlam business challenge submission deadline is Friday, May 10.
A BrainSlam is an opportunity for teams to brainstorm a solution to a real-world publishing problem and pitch their solution to a panel of judges. Creativity and innovation steal the day and the team with the best solution wins fabulous prizes!
At our SIPA 2013 BrainSlam, attendees will break into interactive groups to brainstorm and devise solutions to real problems submitted by real SIPA members! Just think of the brain power!
Here’s how the SIPA 2013 BrainSlam works:
- At the start of the BrainSlam sessions on Thursday, June 6, attendees will be divided into teams.
- After teams are formed, we’ll present a set of real-life challenges faced by real SIPA members. Two teams will be assigned to each challenge.
- We’ll provide teams with basic facts and any relevant constraints to be considered when brainstorming the solution.
Then the fun (and the timer!) starts!
- Each team will have 45 minutes to craft an innovative solution to their assigned challenge.
- Each team will then have just a few minutes (and yes we’ll be using a stopwatch!) to sell their idea to the judges who will chose winners for each of the challenges and for the best overall solution!
- Winners will be announced and prizes awarded at the evening reception!

Summarize your challenge in a brief email. Please include as many details as you can - especially budgetary constraints (e.g., you have $10K to work with to achieve $250K in revenue) and time frames (e.g., I need 3% conference growth in 8 months). All submissions will remain anonymous.
