Certificate Program Overview
Two things are true about publishing. First, it is in flux and promises to be for many years to come. B2B and B2C publishing companies of all size are struggling to keep up with unprecedented disruptions to traditional ways of doing business. And yet, there remains ample opportunity for publishers who are creative and courageous enough to spot and seize it. Second, there is a critical shortage of expertise and leadership. At all levels of organizations we see a dearth of vision and functional know-how needed to take our businesses to the next level.
SIPA and SIIA are keenly sensitive to our members’ need for rapid professional development. After considerable thought, we are proud to announce a new, exciting education and training program called the Specialized Information Professional Certificate (SIPC). Over the course of 2013, SIIA and SIPA will create for publishing leaders and those poised to step into management, an intensive learning experience equipping you with the sophisticated skills, knowledge and entrepreneurial zeal needed to set your publishing business on a new, creative path to growth and profitability. The SIPC program rests on the three pillars:
- Marketing
- Editorial
- Operations
SIPA and SIIA are committed to preparing our members for the new world of publishing. We know that making the publishing industry better and stronger starts with helping you to be as smart and as capable as you can be. Our belief that content is what matters most will drive us to deliver to you the best possible certificate experience.
Who Should Enroll?
SIPC is geared to professionals of all levels of experience and individual contributors with high potential, across every functional area: content, marketing, new-product development, sales, technology and operations. A SIPC graduate will be able to lead the process of envisioning new products or repositioning existing ones, of building them, bringing them to market and managing their growth and change throughout their life cycle.
If you are new to specialized-information publishing, this is a great opportunity to gain a better understanding of the entire publishing industry. Or, if you’ve been in publishing for a few years, this is a great way to learn about other areas within publishing that you are not as familiar with.
