David Foster

CEO, Business Valuation Resources

David Foster is the CEO of Business Valuation Resources, the U.S.-based publisher of transaction, legal and other databases for the business valuation profession. In the ten years since he acquired BVR, it has grown 320%. Much of this growth resulted from successful responses to the revolution in information industry business processes during the last decade—changes that have forced BVR and other publishers to reinvent sales, marketing, product development, technology, editorial, pricing, and every other part of their operations. In addition to BVR, Foster was the co-founder of IOMA, Inc., a management publisher he sold to the Bureau of National Affairs in 1998. He has served on the Boards of 14 information industry companies, as well as a number of non-profits such as Copyright Clearance Center and Symphony Space. He won SIPA’s Hall of Fame Award 2000, and is current co-chair of SIPA's annual CEO Roundtable, which meets again in February in Jamaica. He's also a member of OutSell's publishing CEO Leadership Community.

Tim Hartman

Tim Hartman is Chief Executive Officer of Government Executive Media Group, the public sector division of Atlantic Media Company. Dedicated to helping influential executives in government do their important work, Government Executive Media Group is one of the leading digital B-to-B media companies. Over the past fifteen years, Tim has served in various roles across Atlantic Media Company. He joined Government Executive in 2007 to manage new product development, and rose to the role of President in 2012. During his time there, Tim oversaw the transformation of Government Executive Media Group into a digital-first enterprise, launching numerous digital brands and products and expanding Government Executive into the Defense and State and Local markets. Through this aggressive growth and innovation plan, Government Executive Media Group saw explosive reach in audience engagement and traffic increase. Today, over 60% of Government Executive Media Group’s revenue stems from digital products. In March 2014 Tim was appointed Chief Executive Officer of National Journal Group, where he oversaw the National Journal’s transformation from an ad-supported media company to a premium membership and services enterprise. Upon completion of the transformation, Tim returned to Government Executive Media Group as Chief Executive Officer in November 2015.

Duncan Bell

Duncan is Vice President of Data Services and Columbia Books & Information Services, a publisher of data and compliance information across a number of verticals. Duncan has been working in data for 7 years and is passionate about the power of data to improve efficiency and derive insight. He has experience working with large government datasets including non-profit tax form “990” data, federal lobbying disclosures, and Grants.gov federal funding opportunities. Duncan has oversaw the publication of many print products, including the Almanac of American Politics, the United States Congress Handbook, Association CEO Compensation Report, and the Nation Trade & Professional Associations Directory. Additionally, his team is responsible for the upkeep of subscription database websites AssociationExecs.com, Lobbyists.info, and TheGrantScape.com. Duncan recently graduated from General Assembly’s Data Science course, where he learned how to apply machine learning to tackle difficult data challenges. He is excited to continue to grow his capabilities and pass on what he’s learned to others.

Nancy Brand

Managing Director, SIPA

Nancy is responsible for the strategy and day-to-day operations for the Specialized Information Publishers Association (SIPA), which is the leading provider of best practices sharing, training and peer networking for publishers and information providers. Previously, Nancy was the senior director of operations at Chartwell, where she managed marketing, IT, account management, training and sales to support the company’s evolving business strategy. She has overseen the transition from software to cloud-based solutions as well as developed multiple websites. Nancy previously served on SIPA's Board of Directors and has presented at various industry conferences. Nancy graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology and earned her MBA focusing on data analysis and marketing from Georgia State University.

James Capo

Chief Revenue Officer, Omeda

James Capo is the Chief Revenue Officer at Omeda. Previously he served as Vice President of Digital Services and Business Development at Access Intelligence. At Access Intelligence, Capo is charged with developing new digital products and partnerships that focus on end-user engagement, data capture, customer insights, and revenue generation. Previously, Capo was with Cygnus Business Media where he lead the development of mobile and tablet applications as well as multiple new digital product launches. Capo also spent 7 years in technology and sales at the Associated Press working primarily in the digital broadcast space.

Matthew Cibellis

Matthew spearheads event programming for Education Week, the nation’s source for K–12 education news and information. He develops both custom and editorial events showcasing best practices in the field. Annually, he oversees “Leaders To Learn From” and the production of 65+ webinars, live chats, livestreams, and 25 sponsored dinners. Matthew is responsible for developing videos with thought leaders, PSAs with celebrities, and other multimedia projects to generate interest in and drive registration. Brian Crotty

Brian's publishing background stretches back more than 27 years during which he has created and managed a variety of information products, including newsletters, magazines, databases, software, and conferences. Before assuming the role of CEO at OPIS, Brian was a vice president at Hart Publications, a magazine, directory and newsletter subsidiary of Phillips Publishing International. He has a master's degree in journalism from American University. He is currently serving his second term on the Board of Directors of the Specialized Information Publishers Association (he served as a Board member from 2000-2005 and 2009-present), and has won two awards for journalism excellence from that association.

Robin Crumby

Denise Elliott

Denise is responsible for the circulation/sales efforts for five newsletters with a combined circulation of more than 275,000 and one consumer magazine with more than 600,000 subscribers. Founded in 1920 by W.M. Kiplinger, the company developed one of the nation’s first successful newsletters in modern times. The Kiplinger Letter, launched in 1923, remains the longest continually published newsletter in the U.S. Denise is also responsible for production, fulfillment and IT. She was previously president of Briefings Publishing Group, a newsletter publishing company in Alexandria, VA. Prior to Briefings, Denise was marketing vice president at Washington Business Information, Inc.

Jonathan Ewert

Jonathan has a 30-year history of unlocking new revenue streams and accelerating growth across a variety of public and PE-backed tech-enabled service companies. Barbara Weckstein Kaplowitz

She focuses on bringing new partners into the Mequoda client cooperative and also works with Mequoda’s Gold Members to plan transformative, larger-scale projects and services for growing their systems and maximizing profits. Jim Molpus

During her 14 years with the company, Elizabeth has held various roles of increasing responsibility in the business’s sales, product management, and content development departments.
