New EU Data Privacy Regulations for 2018: What You Need to Know

In May, 2018, the new European Union (EU) privacy and data security regulations will take effect. These regulations, formally known as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), will make many changes from current EU regulations. Did you know that even if you do not have an office in the EU, your company might be subject to these regulations? Even with Brexit, the UK plans to implement the Regulation as well. The challenges can seem daunting, and the stakes are potentially high as the regulators can impose fines for non-compliance as high as 4% of global revenue.

Please join SIIA’s Senior Director for International Public Policy, Carl Schonander, for a SIIA webinar on the GDPR. This webinar is especially designed for SIIA small and medium-sized companies (but larger SIIA member companies might want to participate as well) that are not very familiar with the GDPR but know that they must have a strategy. The webinar is designed to provide information on actions companies can take without necessarily hiring outside counsel, although firms may determine that they would benefit from doing so. So please join us on October 3, 2017 at 2:00 PM EST for this webinar.
