GWU and SIIA Present Special Event to Examine New Ways of Supporting Cross Border Data Flows

Discussion will Include Experts from USTR, World Bank and Others

Washington, DC. (November 2, 2016) – On Nov. 14th in Washington, D.C., the Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA), the leading association representing the software and digital content industries, and The George Washington University Institute for International Economic Policy will present a special event examining new avenues – beyond the TPP – to govern cross border data flows.

A panel of experts from GWU, SIIA, the World Bank, USTR and the Center for Economic and Policy Research will discuss the increasing global attempts to close down the flow of information across borders, and the various ways in which countries can work together to ensure the modern economy is not held back by restrictive and uneven data flow regulations.

Carl Schonander, Senior Director of International Policy at SIIA will be a part of this panel discussion and brings with him 25 years of experience in the State Department, including most recently as Senior Advisor for Europe, OECD and WIPO Intellectual Property Affairs.
