SIIA Welcomes Senate Confirmation for Keith Krach to be the Next Under Secretary of State for Economics and Privacy Shield Ombudsperson
WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 21, 2019) – The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal association for the software, information, and digital content industries, commends the United States Senate for its unanimous confirmation of Keith Krach to be the next Under Secretary of State for Economics and Privacy Shield Ombudsperson.
SIIA Senior Vice President for Global Public Policy, Carl Schonander, issued the following statement:
“SIIA commends the United States Senate for its approval of Keith Krach to be the next Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment. The Under Secretary’s duties also include the role of Ombudsperson for the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield, the world’s largest data sharing agreement with over 4,000 participating companies. In Mr. Krach’s March 27, 2019 testimony, the Under Secretary talked about ‘strengthening our partnerships with friends and allies,’ which is crucial for the United States to be able to lead in economic diplomacy.
