SIIA Applauds House Judiciary Committee’s Passage of Defend Trade Secrets Act

Washington D.C. (April 20, 2016) – The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal association representing the software and digital content industries, applauded the House Judiciary Committee’s passage of the Defend Trade Secrets Act.

SIIA’s Senior Vice President for Public Policy, Mark MacCarthy, issued the following statement:

“The Defend Trade Secrets Act is important and bipartisan legislation that protects investments in innovation. The presence of a uniform national rule for trade secret misappropriation will result in more efficient, less costly litigation when a company's property has been stolen.

“SIIA is particularly gratified that the House Judiciary Committee easily passed this bill, and we hope to see it move quickly from the House floor to the President’s desk.”
