SIIA Applauds President’s Actions on Apprenticeships
Washington D.C. (June 15, 2017) – The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal association representing the software and digital content industries, applauded President Trumps signing of an executive order to expand apprenticeship opportunities.
SIIA’s Senior Vice President for Public Policy, Mark MacCarthy, issued the following statement:
“As an industry facing a critical shortage of qualified workers to fill today’s high-skill, high-wage jobs, The President’s executive order to incentivize additional opportunities for individuals to receive on-the-job training opportunities coupled with high-quality curriculum is a crucial first-step to getting more Americans back to work. We must continue to support and invest in our nation’s education and training infrastructure to build a strong pipeline of skilled and educated workers for today’s and tomorrow’s jobs.”
The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) is the principal trade association for the software and digital information industries representing software companies, data and analytics firms, information service companies, and digital publishers. Members of the Education Technology Industry Network (ETIN) of SIIA work with K-12 schools and institutions of higher education nationwide to develop and deliver education software applications, digital instructional content, online learning services and related technologies. They are helping to support teachers and instruction, improve student learning, carry out various administrative operations, and improve school productivity and educational performance.
