SIIA Applauds Senate Judiciary Committee for Focus on Patent Quality

Washington, D.C. (October 30, 2019) – The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal association for the software, information, and digital content industries, today applauded the Senate Judiciary Committee for strengthening the quality of patents.

SIIA VP for Intellectual Property, Chris Mohr, issued the following statement:

“Patent litigation abuse begins with patents that never should have been issued in the first place.  It’s critical that the PTO issue patents that meet all the statutory criteria, and have an affordable means to correct mistakes when bad patents are issued. We applaud Chairman Tillis and the IP Subcommittee for focusing on the issue of patent quality.”
