SIIA Says CHANCE in Tech Act Will Help Address the Growing Skills Gap in the U.S.

Washington, D.C. (March 14, 2019) – The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal association for the software and digital content industries, the principal association for the software and digital content industries, today welcomes the Senate introduction of the CHANCE in Tech Act.

SIIA Senior Vice President for Global Public Policy, Carl Schonander, issued the following statement:

“SIIA thanks Senators Gardner, Heinrich, Moran, and Markey as well as Representatives Moulton and Herrera Butler for introducing the CHANCE in Tech Act. The bipartisan sponsors of this legislation have identified a number of innovative policy solutions to address the growing skills gap in the U.S. which must be addressed as new and emerging technologies like AI continue to develop.  We look forward to working with the sponsors of this legislation to help this bill become a law.”

SIIA released an issue brief on AI and the Future of Work which provided recommendations consistent with the innovative solutions proposed in the CHANCE in Tech Act.
