SIIA Commends President Trump For Signing H.R. 1079 – CASES Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 26, 2019) – The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal association for the software, information, and digital content industries, is pleased that President Trump signed H.R. 1079, the “Creating Advanced Streamlined Electronic Services for Constituents Act of 2019” (CASES Act).

SIIA President, Jeff Joseph, issued the following statement:

“SIIA thanks President Trump for signing H.R. 1079, the “Creating Advanced Streamlined Electronic Services for Constituents Act of 2019” (CASES Act) into law.  As we stated in a letter to Senate leadership urging the passage of the CASES Act, this important piece of legislation helps bring congressional constituent services into the 21st Century. Specifically, this new law provides the public with the option to use the Internet and leverage electronic signature technology to authorize their Congressional Representative to conduct casework on their behalf.”

“By streamlining the authorization process, the CASES Act democratizes access and enables citizens to receive faster, more effective services.  SIIA looks forward to the upcoming OMB Guidance which will facilitate implementation of the CASES Act.”
