SIIA Encouraged by Announcement of a Digital Trade Agreement with Japan

WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 25, 2019) – The Software & Information Industry Association, the principal association for the software, information, and digital content industries, commends the September 25, 2019 Administration announcement of a digital trade agreement with Japan.  SIIA looks forward to reviewing the text of the deal when it becomes available.

SIIA Senior Vice President for Global Public Policy, Carl Schonander, praised the announcement stating:

“SIIA appreciates the Trump Administration’s work in securing a trade agreement with Japan, the world’s third largest economy.  The United States and Japan share approaches to the development of the digital economy, making a digital deal between the world’s first and third largest economies important to bilateral trade, as well as potentially influential in shaping a global pro digital innovation agenda.”
