SIIA Welcomes USITC Report on the Effects of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement

WASHINGTON, D.C.
(April 18, 2019) – The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal association for the software, information, and digital content industries, today welcomed a report released by the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) on the effects of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement.

SIIA Senior Vice President for Global Public Policy, Carl Schonander, issued this statement:

“As SIIA has previously stated, the USMCA is a major step forward in creating an open trading system in data.  We welcome the USITC’s report.  The report appropriately mentions the significant positive effect the digital trade provisions would have on the U.S. economy.  We look forward to working with Congress and the Administration to get this agreement passed.”
