SIIA Looks Forward to Participating in WIPO Copyright Talks
WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 21, 2019) – The Software & Information Industry Association, the principal association for the software, information, and digital content industries, today assumed its non-government organization seat at the October 21-25, 2019 meeting of the World Intellectual Property Organization’s Standing Committee on Copyrights and Related Rights (SCCR).
SIIA VP for Intellectual Property, Chris Mohr, said:
“National copyright systems have exceptions and limitations that conform to each nation’s needs. As those needs vary from country to country, WIPO can do important work by building capacity, giving technical assistance, and providing a toolkit with best practices as each nation looks to modernize their own copyright law to make it fit for the digital age. I am delighted that SIIA is being represented by member company Pearson. We commend WIPO for ensuring that all stakeholders are heard as it addresses the SCCR’s agenda.”
SIIA is an umbrella association that represents constituencies from technology, data and media companies. Through in-person and online business development opportunities, peer networking, corporate education, intellectual property protection and government relations, SIIA provides a network of resources for its 800+ member companies that drive innovation and growth.
