SIIA Seeks Education Trendsetters for 12 to Watch Program

Applications open for new program designed to recognize companies impacting K-20 ed tech market

WASHINGTON (March 22, 2016) –The Education Technology Information Network (ETIN) of SIIA is now accepting applicants for its Trendsetters with Traction: 12 to Watch program. Companies that are “worth watching” are demonstrating significant impact on the K-20 education technology market and, by revenue or valuation, are signaling that they are poised for growth and market expansion. Twelve companies will be selected to be part of the 2016 Education Industry Symposium (EIS) in Denver July 25-27 at the Marriott Denver City Center.

Companies are invited to apply if they have a product that:

  • has earned $1.5M or more or the company is valued at least $1.5M
  • has been in the market no more than three years
  • is causing students, educators and other ed tech companies to sit up and take notice
  • is supported by sound educational principals and innovative technology
  • is a solution in digital content, management systems, assessment or data analytics

“We’re looking forward to highlighting each company’s accomplishments and building visibility, capital and business opportunities for their groundbreaking products that are making an impression on the industry, customers and end-users,” said Karen Billings, vice president and managing director of ETIN.

A panel of ETIN member judges, consisting of prominent education technology industry professionals, will review and score each application. Collective scores will determine which companies and products are celebrated at EIS. Scores will be based on the following criteria:

  • Market penetration
  • Technological innovation
  • Ability to address a critical need in education
