SIIA Testified to U.S. Trade Representative in Support of U.S.-UK Trade Agreement

WASHINGTON, DC (January 29, 2019) – The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal association for the software and digital content industries, testified today to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative in support of a U.S.-UK trade agreement.

SIIA Senior Vice President for Public Policy, Mark MacCarthy, issued the following statement:

“As SIIA testified, we believe that a trade agreement between the United States and the United Kingdom could set high 21st Century digital and intellectual property rights standards that could be emulated throughout the world. Any agreement should make it clear that publicly available data should continue to be available for companies to use for social good, especially in the areas of anti-money laundering and fighting terrorism.

“We thank the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative for the opportunity to provide testimony, and look forward to further working with it on this matter.”
