Artificial Intelligence in the Market Data Industry

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning play a big role in our industry now.  This session will define what we term “AI” and discuss what “science” and processing underpins this environment. Panelists will debate how it can assist in areas like enhancing data quality and ‘Know Your Customer’ applications.  Other aspects addressed include Big Data and if and how this technology can derive meaning from so much unstructured information (e.g. research reports, news articles, blog posts, social media, etc.) currently available and consider whether AI can be an effective alert tool for behavior, risk and regulatory issues.

A Close Inspection of Alternative Indexes

This session will define alternative indexes and compare and contrast their similarities and differences with the more established and widely used indexes.  Discussion will include insight on who these alternative indexes are and what they actually provide to consumers. The commercial side will be addressed and viewed from the perspective of  the pros and cons of alternative indexes vs. the more established providers. The panelists will touch on the processes and requirements involved in the art and science of creating and, perhaps more importantly, maintaining an index.  We’ll look closely at the uses of indexes with a specific focus on tracking historical performances of investment portfolios and speculate on the future of indexes.
