The Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA) has joined a coalition opposing SB 295, the California Preventing Algorithmic Collusion Act of 2025, due to its potential to chill innovation, increase liability, and harm small businesses. The bill’s vague definitions, expansive scope, and onerous reporting mandates would expose companies to significant legal risk and costs simply for using standard algorithmic pricing tools that help ensure competitive pricing. Existing antitrust laws already prohibit collusive conduct, making this legislation both unnecessary and counterproductive to price competition in California’s economy.
