SIIA Urges Congress to Act Quickly on Sensible Bi-Partisan Legislation
WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 22, 2018) – The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal association for the software & digital content industries, today welcomed the introduction of H.R. 5887, the Big Data in IP Act, legislation that preserves the authority of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to set fees.
SIIA's Senior Vice President for Public Policy, Mark MacCarthy, issued the following statement:
“PTO’s fee setting authority is essential to preserving and improving patent quality. We congratulate Rep. Steve Chabot (R-OH) and Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) for introducing this sensible bipartisan legislation. We support it and urge Congress to move it quickly through the legislative process.”
