SIIA Joins Multi-Association Letter Urging Clear DOJ Guidance on Data Security Rules

The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) and a coalition of industry associations have submitted comments to the Department of Justice regarding the implementation of its final regulations on access to U.S. sensitive personal and government-related data by countries of concern. The letter underscores the need for clear and practical compliance guidance, urging the DOJ to provide a 60-day public comment period for proposed FAQs and implementation materials. It also calls for a phased regulatory rollout, aligning deadlines to ensure businesses have sufficient time to comply with recordkeeping, due diligence, and reporting requirements. The coalition supports a non-enforcement period through December 31, 2026, to facilitate a smooth transition while maintaining national security protections.
