The following statement can be attributed to Chris Mohr, President, the Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA) in response to the verdict in the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) lawsuit against Google’s ad tech:
While the court rejected many of the fundamentally flawed arguments presented by the DOJ in its case, the Justice Department’s lawsuit against Google regarding ad tech threatens to undermine innovation in digital advertising and harm America’s small- and medium-sized businesses. Today, companies compete vigorously in the advertising marketplace to provide businesses of all sizes access to affordable advertising across different mediums and screen sizes so they can grow and connect with customers. By targeting Google for its success in a narrow segment of the larger advertising marketplace, the DOJ risks discouraging innovation and limiting competition in the broader advertising ecosystem, an outcome that threatens to raise the cost of business for online publishers and small- and medium-sized U.S. companies.
