Overview:

The Organization. The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) – the principal trade association for firms in the business of information has an exciting opportunity to improve budgeting, forecasting and drive data-driven decisions for the benefit of the membership. Our members range from startups and some of the best-known brands in the world in financial services, educational technology, technology, and B2B publishing.

Function.  Reporting to the SIIA President, The Vice President of Finance and Operations is the key management, finance and operations officer at a prominent trade association representing the information technology and public policy interests of SIIA’s diverse membership. The Vice President of Finance and Operations works as a trusted partner of the SIIA President, and will be responsible for financial and administrative operations, including facility management, finance, information systems, human resources and fulfillment. More importantly, SIIA is looking for a finance and operations leader who can provide budgeting, forecasting and drive data-driven decisions for the benefit of the membership.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Partner with the President/CEO on all operational and strategic issues as they arise; provide strategic recommendations to the president based on financial analysis and projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense
    • Translate business strategy into the organization’s financial strategy
    • Focus on building value as well as managing the organization’s costs
    • Analyze and supervise the development and implementation of financial and administrative management systems to promote fiscal responsibility and efficient office operations
    • Manages operations within the central staff and coordinates operations between divisions and the core staff
    • Engage the divisional leadership team to align financial management with short- and long-term financial planning and
    • Engage the Board around issues, trends, and changes in the operating model and operational
    • Manages Association office: Responsible for timely payment of rent, utilities etc. Supplies purchases and payment. Oversees maintenance. Negotiates contractual arrangement with all vendors and third parties with proper Board
    • Oversee cash management and investments and the preparation of financial records and reports
    • Oversee internal and external information systems operations
    • Oversee and participate in Human Resources/salary administration functions
    • Responsible for coordination of the annual audit
    • Oversee all general ledger accounting and prepare financial statements for each division of SIIA
    • Responsible for annual budget planning, coordination, preparation and presentation to the Board of Directors
    • Responsible for all SIIA tax compliance
    • Responsible for related policies and procedures
    • Oversee the company’s technical vision and leads all aspects of the company’s technological development
    • Works in a consultative fashion with other department heads, such as marketing as an advisor of technologies that may improve their efficiency and
    • Provide leadership to department heads in a fashion that supports the company’s culture, mission and values.
    • Communicate to multiple audiences, including the SIIA Board about how finance and operation support the critical mission(s) of the
    • Perform other duties as

Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting plus 10 years related experience including at least 7-10 related experience in the Information Technology arena; preferably with prior experience in operations or as a Chief Operating
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal
    • Supervisory experience.
